This is such an important charity and we are thrilled to be able to help support people with dementia and their carers.

The team will be co-led by Lloyds Banking Group’s Bernie Hollywood OBE and Social Entrepreneur of over 25 years. The challenge involves 35 colleagues from Lloyds Banking Group cycling across the challenging terrain of Costa Rica.

Over the years, Bernie has become famous for his fundraising exploits such as running 35 Marathons in 20 consecutive days, trekking unsupported to the North and South Poles, cycling across America and cycling from the UK to Africa, to name but a few.

In total, Bernie has personally raised more than three million pounds for charity and £34 million pounds for the charities he has and continues to be personally involved with.

Bernie’s latest event will see him and the 35 others take on the epic 500km cycle challenge to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland as part of their ‘Live Well’ charity partnership with Lloyds Banking Group .

Liz Monks, Director of Fundraising at Alzheimer’s Society, said: "We are so grateful to Merchant Cash Express for their generous donation.
Money raised will help us to roll out a pioneering new programme to help educate 9,000 carers and families across the country about how to cope with day to day life and plan for the future to ensure their loved one can live well with dementia."

Mortlake-based Merchant Cash Express has been proud to support the heroic Bernie on numerous occasions in the past and this time was no exception.

Richard Morley, Director at MCE, said: “This is such an important charity and we are thrilled to be able to help support people with dementia and their carers.”

"We could not have been more pleased when the Alzheimer’s Society advised us that our £1,000 donation will cover the cost of training a facilitator to deliver the new support and information sessions for family carers.”
