Birmingham (PRWEB UK) 25 May 2013
Earlier this month the Naidex 2013 National at the NEC in Birmingham saw stairlift dealer, Platinum take a whole new angle on the launch of their new Horizon straight stair lift. Platinum introduced the ‘Platinum Stig’ to test drive the new product. The famous, non-speaking racing driver took to lime light at the event, and demonstrated the functions of the Horizon stair lift in true Stig style. Naidex was a huge success for Platinum, with many dealers from the UK and Europe showing a keen interest in their mobility products. Using the Platinum Stig was a refreshing approach to a product launch and attracted a great deal of attention from visitors, who were excited to get their photographs taken with the iconic test driver.
Platinum wanted to do something different for the launch of the Horizon, and thought using the Platinum Stig was a great way to create an air of excitement about the innovative new product. The Stig caused quite a stir, not only at the Platinum Stairlifts stand within the NEC, but in the car park too, where he was flagged down for pictures continuously. Adhering to traditional ‘Stig’ etiquette, the Platinum Stig’s conversation was non-existent, aside from the occasional hand gesture and sarcastic nod.
The Platinum Stig was accompanied by two stunning pit girls – the aptly named ‘Platinum Stiglettes’. Platinum’s genius thinking was proven when the Platinum Stig held the centre of attention for the whole exhibition, test-driving Platinum’s Horizon straight stairlift and also the Platinum Curve, on the hour, every hour. The Platinum Stig also did a few laps of the show with the ‘Stiglettes’, stopping to have his picture taken with the majority of people there, including adults and young children.
In creating the Horizon, the stairlift company’s strategy was to develop a high quality product to be sold at an affordable price, and hence provide dealers with the opportunity to upsell rather than continuously seek budget priced products. They were thrilled to be able to show it off to maximum effect with the use of the Platinum Stig, who brought a new and refreshing touch to the Naidex experience.
Platinum Stairlifts Managing Director, David Forsyth explained:
“This year at Naidex, we really wanted to do something different. Here at Platinum, we are renowned for manufacturing quality stairlifts, so we thought who best to test-drive our new Horizon straight than the best quality driver in the business… the Platinum Stig!
Overall, the show has been a tremendous success this year. Not only has the Horizon received tremendous acclaim from both our existing dealers and new dealers alike, the Platinum Stig has helped to increase our exposure at the show massively, as well as putting a smile on everyone’s face.”
Platinum were very pleased with the way in which the Platinum Stig brought an air of cool to their exhibition. Despite many trying to coax conversation out of him, the Platinum Stig remained silent throughout the event but, of course, was full of character and made an effort to involve everyone in the fun.
