The Harbor Point Waterfront has a variety of activities for the family every day this weekend.
Water Taxi: Captain Frank Fumega will begin a free water taxi service on the 26’ “Nautical Wheeler. ” Service begins on Thursday, May 23rd to kick off the holiday weekend. The hours of operation are Thursday, 5pm-11pm; Friday 5pm – 12am; Saturday 4:30pm – 12am; Sundays 4:30pm – 11pm; Monday 2pm-9pm. The water taxi will run from the Harbor Point North Marina Dock across the west branch of Stamford Harbor to the Stamford Landing Marina Dock. Please call the Captain for a ride at 203-219-2673 during the hours of operation.
Beer Garden: After a wildly successful grand opening earlier this month, The Beer Garden at Harbor Point will be fully stocked with multiple craft beers and gourmet food trucks during Memorial Day Weekend. The Beer Garden website has all of the information. The Beer Garden’s holiday weekend schedule is Friday to Monday 12 pm- close, 4PM to close Mon-Thurs. Young Mariners: New to Harbor Point this Memorial Day Weekend is the Young Mariners Kayak and Paddle Board Rental! Take advantage of family fun in Stamford while benefiting the Stamford-based Young Mariners Foundation. Rentals will be available Fridays from 12-6, Saturdays from 9-7, Sunday 9-5, and Memorial Day (Monday) from 9-5. Tours are available to accommodate groups up to 5 people on either kayak or paddle boards. Boaters: Any boaters looking to enjoy the newest waterfront scene on Long Island Sound, can take advantage of Harbor Point’s transient boat slips available all weekend long. Harbor Point Marinas can cater to boats ranging of any size, and offers great amenities, and easy and convenient access to all of Stamford in a secure location. 2013 Block Island Race: On Friday, May 24th, this 186 nautical mile yacht race will start from Stamford CT, go down the Long Island Sound, around Block Island RI, and back to Stamford. Please visit their website for more information and details on this exciting event. Transient slips are available a few steps away from Crabshell, and Dolce Cubano at Stamford Landing, as well as The Beer Garden at Harbor Point. Race participants & fans can enjoy dining and drinks along Harbor Point’s waterfront restaurants before and after the race. The public is encouraged to visit the waterfront to view racing boats like the 55’ Rima, currently docked in the Harbor Point North Marina, behind the Beer Garden.
SoundWaters Public Sails: Offering Sunset and Afternoon Sails!
Stamford-based SoundWaters has an extensive schedule of educational and fun sails on their 80’ schooner, leaving from 333 Ludlow Street on the East Branch of Stamford Harbor. All are welcome to enjoy the excitement and wonder of Long Island Sound – work together to raise the sails, examine firsthand the rich diversity of the life that exists beneath the waves, or bring your dinner and your favorite beverage and relax while watching the sun dip below the horizon.
Boardwalks: Harbor Point offers a beautiful public waterfront, with an extensive boardwalk. All are welcome to enjoy the holiday weekend by using the boardwalk to take pets for a walk, get in some early morning exercise, view yachts stopping into the marina, and even take the water taxi to Crabshell or Dolce Cubano at Stamford Landing for a waterfront meal.
Exhale Gym: Take advantage of the great weekend weather, and join Harbor Point’s Exhale Gym as they take their Yoga classes outside starting Wednesday May 22nd. Visit the website for more information and schedule.
