New President of National Association of Professional Organizers Cites Universal Need for Personal Productivity Services as She Begins Term

The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), a non-profit association representing over 4,000 professional organizers, productivity specialists and product manufacturers worldwide, announced that President-Elect Mary Dykstra-Novess officially has begun her 2-year term as president.

A NAPO member since 2000, Dykstra-Novess, of Within Reach Organizing Services in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has served in several leadership positions within the organizing and productivity industry, including national director positions with both NAPO and the Board of Certification for Professional Organizers (BCPO). She has a Masters Degree in Business Administration, is certified in relocation and transition services for seniors, and is a Certified Professional Organizer® (CPO®).

Dykstra-Novess is a productivity specialist and provides her professional services to businesses, corporations employing mobile workers, and entrepreneurs working from home offices. In addition, she is a highly regarded national speaker on a range of organizing and productivity topics.

“Life has become increasingly complex, and staying organized is not easy,” says Dykstra-Novess. Parents running a busy household, adult children caring for aging parents, workers managing competing job priorities, students juggling schoolwork and social activities, business owners striving to increase profitability—everyone can relate to needing to be more organized. NAPO has expanded significantly in recent years as demand has grown for personal productivity services and solutions. Its members are professional organizers, productivity specialists, educators, product manufacturers, service providers and other resources dedicated to helping individuals and businesses save time, money and stress by becoming more orderly and efficient.

New members starting their terms of board service are:

Danielle Liu, CPO®, Industry Member Director
Danielle Liu, CPO will serve as an Industry Member Director for the 2013-2016 term. Liu is the owner of Totally Organized, LLC, based in West Linn, OR, and she specializes in working with residential and small business clients who struggle with ADHD. She joins four other industry member directors currently on the board.

Al Arends - Fellowes, Inc., Corporate Associate Member Director
Al Arends is Senior Marketing Manager of Fellowes, Inc., a global manufacturer and marketer of business machines, records storage and office accessories based in Itasca, IL. Arends is responsible for all marketing and new product initiatives into the retail and mass market channels for the Bankers Box Group. He will serve as a corporate associate member director for the 2013-2016 term.

Transitioning into a new role on the board is:

Angela F. Wallace, CPO®, Immediate Past President
Angela F. Wallace, CPO®, whose term as president recently ended, will continue to serve on the board as Immediate Past President for the next year. Owner of Wallace Associates in Novato, CA, Wallace specializes in consulting, coaching and organizing for individual and business clients wishing to improve productivity and increase organization.

Re-elected to the board for a second term is:

Kate Brown, CPO®, Industry Member Director
Kate Brown, CPO® will serve as an industry member director for the 2013-2016 term. Brown’s company, Impact Organizing, LLC, based in Sarasota, FL, provides productivity training, organizing services and project management for clients in their homes and offices. Her team specializes in working with clients who are easily distracted, experiencing life transitions, moving or dealing with anxiety or depression.

Continuing board members include Treasurer Sandy Stelter, JD, CPO® of Suisun, CA; Secretary Susan Kousek, CPO® of Reston, VA; and industry member directors Nicole Chamblin, CPO®, CPES™ of Freeport, NY; Ellen Faye, CPO®, COC® of Cherry Hill, NJ; and Jodi Granok of St. Louis, MO.
