New York, NY (PRWEB) May 24, 2013
In honor of the start of summer this Memorial Day, Bike and Roll New York City, the city’s largest bike tour and bike rental company, will provide free one-hour bike rentals to anyone visiting Governors Island on Memorial Day between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. More than 25 Bike and Roll employees will be on hand at Colonels Row/Castle Williams to greet riders with bikes and necessary safety equipment, including bells and helmets.
“Free Bike Monday” is our way of giving back to the Big Apple and promoting cycling as a green and effective mode of transportation,” said Chris Wogas, President of Bike and Roll New York City. “We have a variety of rentals that accommodate all ages and different skill levels that afford riders an enjoyable and leisurely experience.”
Governors Island is accessible via free ferry service from the Battery Maritime Building in Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 in Brooklyn Heights. Bike and Roll New York City will host another “Free Bike Monday” on Labor Day Monday, September 2nd.
Those who wish to keep their rental beyond the free hour may do so for a reasonable hourly rate. For those who can’t make it out to Governor’s Island, Bike and Roll New York City has more than 2,000 bikes at ten locations around the city, including Pier 84, Governors Island, Central Park at Columbus Circle and Tavern on the Green, Battery Park, South Street Seaport, Riverside Park, West Harlem Piers Park, East River Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Bike and Roll NYC recently introduced its own membership program for $9.99 per month that allows its members to borrow a high quality bicycle at their convenience. For more information on membership, rates and tour information, please visit http://www.bikenewyorkcity.com.
