Our servicemen and women are adept at handling changing situations, have a good sense of responsibility and have a great work ethic.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (PRWEB) May 24, 2013
Many veterans face the prospect of unemployment after completing their service to their country.
However, Cellular Sales is actively recruiting military personnel to join the company, citing key success indicators such as discipline, intelligence and a commitment to teamwork that many veterans possess.
Cellular Sales, the nation’s largest premium Verizon Wireless retailer with more than 560 stores and 4,500 employees, has been adding veterans to its roster for several years.
Marcus Hundley, a Cellular Sales recruiter and training director for Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, has hired 14 veterans in the Kentucky market within the past year.
“Many core competencies required of military personnel and successful Cellular Sales team members are the same,” Hundley said. “We are looking for self-motivated men and women with drive who are goal oriented. We’ve noticed a high success rate among our veterans because they tend to possess these characteristics.”
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report for April, the unemployment rate for post-9/11 veterans has dropped significantly, from 11.7 percent in January to 7.5 percent in April.
“This trend may indicate that other companies are recognizing the value veterans bring to their business,” Hundley said.
Cellular Sales team leader and recruiter, Matthew Amodeo, a graduate of The Citadel, is seeking veterans in the Jacksonville, Fla., metropolitan area.
“Our servicemen and women are adept at handling changing situations, have a good sense of responsibility and have a great work ethic,” Amodeo said. “I scour the internet for leads on veterans weekly and have hired dozens during my tenure with Cellular Sales.”
