Behlman Electronics Inc., known for its leadership in providing industrial, commercial, and military power products for critical applications, has announced that a major appliance manufacturer has selected four different models of Behlman power supplies to help improve the accuracy of its product testing and demonstration.

Major appliances, such as refrigerators and freezers, clothes washers and driers, dish washers, electric ranges and microwave ovens are typically designed and manufactured to operate at peak efficiency across a narrow variable range of power conditions. Being able to test and demonstrate appliance performance over the power ranges likely to be experienced in the field is an essential part of the development of these appliances. Even an appliance’s ability to qualify for important certifications, such as Energy Star Ratings, requires the manufacturer to demonstrate product performance under designated electrical loads.

Behlman power supplies chosen by this manufacturer for their testing and demonstration, include the BL+30 (30 KVA, 120/208 VAC); BL20000 (20 KVA, 120/208 VAC); BL15000 (15 KVA, 120/208 VAC) and BL7000 (7 KVA, 120 VAC). This combination of Behlman power supplies enables the manufacturer to supply single-phase power to multiple appliances in any of its labs at 120 VAC or 240 VAC with transformers.

Behlman's high power, AC power sources / frequency converters / inverters, combine the smooth, clean power of a linear supply with the compact design of a switching power supply. They're about one-third the size and half the cost of other AC sources. All models come standard with variable voltage and frequency, external sync and 0-10 VDC remote control, optional IEEE488 or RS232 interface for computer control. LabWindows and LabView drives are available.
