According to the BBC News article dated 24 May 2013: talent show mum Amanda Webber jailed for benefit fraud, mother of eight, 43 year old Amanda Webber, was jailed for four years for fraudulently receiving £350,000 in benefits. Webber claimed that five of her children had disabilities and medical conditions affecting their mobility when in fact Brighton Crown Court heard that they took part in drama and dance, some even auditioned for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent show. Judge Anthony Niblett sat case number 20110655 on 23 May 2013 at Brighton Crown Court.

The BBC News report went on to say that Webber received £350,000 in benefits over a 12 year period from 1998. She made benefits claims on the basis of five of her eight children had various disabilities and conditioned that affected their mobility and care needs. The children’s school’s had no records of such learning difficulties or mobility issues.
