Foster City, Ca (PRWEB) May 25, 2013
Loudmouth, the worldwide leader in colorful sports and lifestyle apparel, today announced their clothing sponsorship with Indy 500 driver, James Jakes. Jakes will be debuting his custom Loudmouth racing suit, which was designed in one of Loudmouth’s most popular patterns. Tune in this Sunday to ABC to find out which LOUD design he will be competing in. This will be the first time in history that an Indy car driver has worn Loudmouth on the track.
The 97th running of the Indianapolis 500 will be televised on ABC beginning at 12:00 p.m. EDT Sunday, May 26. Jakes will make his second start in the historic event where he previously qualified 17th and finished 15th in 2012. His 4-lap average qualifying speed of 225.809 mph earned him a 20th place qualifying position in the 33-car field in 2013.
“Loudmouth is thrilled to initiate this landmark relationship with Jakesy and the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team,” says Loudmouth Golf CEO, Larry Jackson. “Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines! This will be one wild ride.”
“I spend a lot of time on the golf course and I had the chance to meet Larry Jackson,” says James Jakes. “We talked about ways to get a crazier race suit out there and came up with this idea. I’m excited to wear it on race day and I know Sparco was pleased to build it for us. There have been a few crazy suits in the past but I don’t think there has been anything like this so I hope we can start off a new generation.”
The 2013 season will mark the third for the Leeds, England native in the IZOD IndyCar Series. He made 31 starts for Dale Coyne Racing from 2011-2012 with his best series start of eighth place coming on the Motegi road course in 2011 and his best series finish of eighth coming on the Toronto street course in 2012.
Jakes began racing in 2002 in the British T-Car series where he finished second. He graduated to the British Formula Renault Series in 2004 and finished 12th in the standings and second in the rookie chase. In 2005, he returned to the British Formula Renault Series, finishing second in points after seven podium finishes and two poles. That year, he was also named a Rising Star by the prestigious British Racing Drivers Club and was a McLaren Autosport Award finalist. He progressed to the British Formula 3 Series and on to the Formula 3 Euro Series (2007-2008) where he won the Pau Grand Prix from pole in 2008 and set the fastest race lap. He earned two podiums in the GP2 Asia series (2008-2009) and a pole and two podiums in GP3 (2010) and finished eighth in series standings despite missing four races because of injury. In 2011, he moved to the IndyCar Series after a test with Dale Coyne Racing.
Loudmouth’s sponsorship reinforces their continued dedication to major global sports initiatives.
