Never before has there been a greater understanding of the issues veterans face thanks to partners like Party Corps who help nonprofits engage and educate the public through music and the arts.

On Wednesday, May 29th at Cafe du Nord in San Francisco Party Corps will present their Music for Good Forum, the fourth in a monthly series, featuring Bay Area blues and soul artists Quinn DeVeaux and Benjamin Brown in concert and in conversation with Swords to Plowshares, a community-based, not-for-profit service organization that provides health and social services, supportive housing, employment training and legal assistance to more than 2,000 veterans in the San Francisco Bay Area each year.

“Throughout our long history of helping local veterans heal from the wounds of war, we have always valued the intersections between the arts, community, health and healing,” said Michael Blecker, Swords to Plowshares Executive Director. “Never before has there been a greater understanding of the issues veterans face thanks to partners like Party Corps who help nonprofits engage and educate the public through music and arts forums.”

The monthly Music for Good Forum features a curated conversation between top local and internationally known musicians and representatives from grassroots nonprofit organizations. Music lovers in attendance are given rare insight into the issues their favorite artists are passionate about while learning about and supporting the work of grassroots non-profit organizations addressing that issue.

“The meaning of Memorial Day is often overlooked. After Memorial Day 2013, we are thrilled to be presenting two outstanding Bay Area musicians, performing on behalf of and in conversation with an organization-Swords to Plowshares-that is working to help veterans who have given so much through service in the armed forces,” said Leila Monroe, Founder of Party Corps.

Doors open at Café du Nord, located at 2170 Market Street, at 7:30, show starts at 8:00. Tickets are $10 presale and $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased here, and 100% of proceeds go to Swords to Plowshares.
