"We started the Lightning Bolt Award program to bring out some of the greatest tech today.'s focus is on emerging technology that's changing the world, and we believe we're at the very beginning of a major tech boom," said editor-in-chief Dan Blacharski. "The entrants this year have proven us right."

This year's finalists include LiquidCoolSolutions, Efficient Exercise, RiseSmart, GutCheck, Personify, Sudo, IncrediBuild, Tracx, CloudByte, Distil Networks, HireVue, TempoDB, and Berman Innovations.

"We're looking for new ideas," said Blacharski. "Conventional business advice says to find a company that's successful, then copy it, but that advice leads to nothing more than a lot of redundant ideas that are, by definition, too late to market. The real innovators are the ones that are doing something for the first time. That's what we want to showcase in the Lightning Bolt Awards."

Lightning Bolt Award finalists and winners will be invited to attend’s "Escape to the Midwest" trade show and conference in October, to be held in South Bend, Indiana. Special guests will include Cary Landis, CEO of SaaS Maker, a platform-as-a-service that allows entrepreneurs and start-ups to build, deploy, and sell their cloud-based apps; and Gary Millin, CEO of World Accelerator, the world's first "Domain Accelerator" that combines great ideas and teams with a great brand. The undertaking of a project development team from South Bend, Indiana, aims to produce and present meaningful, enlightening, inspiring, engaging, and entertaining content appealing to a broad cross-section of technology enthusiasts.
