The thin veneer of youth, money, good looks and love are shattered when David is diagnosed with HIV. With his pregnant fiancée kept in the dark, David confronts the realization that he may have infected them as well. Sessions with a therapist become a narrative device that film-maker Stephen Lloyd Jackson uses to document David’s descent into hedonistic despair.
‘David Is Dying’ ('DID') is due to be screened this coming Thursday 30th May 2013 at the Genesis Cinema in East London. Presented as part of the British Urban Film Festival [BUFF] Spring Season, ‘DID’ will be closing this seasonal event of UK indie films.
Also on the evening’s bill will be a Q&A session with the award winning cast members, Lonyo Engele, Isaura Barbe´- Brown and Brigitte Millar. They’ll also be joined by award winning director Stephen Lloyd Jackson.
This will be ‘DID’s second public UK screening hosted by BUFF. ‘DID’ first screened at the British Urban Film Festival in 2011. Since then, it has gone on to play in over 20 international film festivals and has scooped eight film festival awards, including a double grand jury prize award for best male actor – Lonyo Engele and best director – Stephen Lloyd Jackson at the 15th American Black Film Festival in South Beach, Miami.
