New store openings all within a week in Front Royal, Va., and Palm City, Fla., and a concessions presence at the popular Jiffy Lube Live venue in Virginia illustrate franchisor Zinga Frozen Yogurt’s accelerated growth in 2013.
Zinga President John Fitchett said Zinga Franchise Group has 285 stores currently in development in 12 states. He projects 20 more stores to open in 2013.
“With the seven stores we’ve opened so far this year and Zinga’s unique presence at one of the East’s most popular concert venues, we’re making a strong case for potential franchisees to join the growing Zinga family,” Fitchett said.
New Zinga Frozen Yogurt stores have opened this month in Palm City, Fla., and Front Royal, Va. Palm City owner operators Ray and Glenn Burgos and Glenn Colucci franchisee have lived on the Treasure Coast for more than 10 years. Front Royal franchisee Debra Wood has more than 30 years experience in the restaurant industry and has been a business owner in the local community for more than 23 years. Both stores opened in May and they have planned to open more.
“Entrepreneurs are always looking for the next great opportunity,” said Ms. Wood. “With health-conscious offerings and the business plan we developed with Zinga Franchise Group, we know we’ve tapped into something special for our area.”
Ashburn, Va., franchisee Dave Baer is taking the Zinga Frozen Yogurt experience to concertgoers at the Jiffy Lube Live outdoor performance amphitheater in Bristow, Va., just 35 miles from Washington, D.C. It’s the kind of creative venture that inspires other franchisees into thinking beyond bricks and mortar.
“We are taking the Zinga self-serve experience to music fans to give them the opportunity to top their own frozen yogurt,” Baer said. “There will be nearly 30 shows this year and we expect 350,000 to 400,000 people to visit the venue.”
Zinga’s concept is built around self-serve frozen yogurt with a variety of flavors and unique toppings. Frozen yogurt offerings include everything from gluten-free flavors, no sugar-added and fat-free flavors – to delicious low-fat choices and even Greek yogurts. Zinga reminded consumers during National Nutrition Month in March that Zinga’s basic offerings of frozen yogurt, fresh fruit and nuts can help promote weight loss, as suggested by a 2011 Harvard study.
All of Zinga’s yogurt flavors meet the National Yogurt Association’s criteria for “live and active culture yogurt.”
