To maximise the benefits, a business should have a comprehensive social media plan in place
Manchester (PRWEB UK) 28 May 2013
Social media can help companies to boost their search engine ranking, improve brand awareness, and become thought leaders, PR expert Charlotte Ward has said in an article published today.
She uses the post on Find the Edge to explain how these benefits can be achieved, but also warns of the dangers of underestimating the investments needed to secure them.
She said: "It requires a huge commitment of time, money and personnel.
"To maximise the benefits, a business should have a comprehensive social media plan in place – something that clearly states what it hopes to accomplish, and which social media tools will be used to help.
"By doing this, the business can turn its social media efforts into social media success."
As well as discussing the various benefits a well-managed social media campaign can offer, Ward also explains why now is a good time for businesses that have previously avoided social media to take the plunge.
She said: "For businesses of all sizes, mastering social media has been a long, winding road – with many trying and failing along the way."
"Now, it seems, we have reached an age of social media maturity – or at least adolescence."
"The ‘whys?’, ‘whats?’ and ‘hows?’ of social media have been written down, and we recognise that it is not a one-size fits all solution; the way in which Coca-Cola benefits from Twitter is probably very different from a tech start-up or a local accounting firm."

Founder of Find the Edge, Kenny Goodman, said: "Most businesses now understand the need to use social media to communicate with their audience, but many are still wasting time using it ineffectively.
"This article has some great tips to help anyone get the most out of the time they spend using social media."
