Westfield Capital Enhances the Family Experience with New Indoor Playground

In an effort to refresh the shopping experience and to provide families with more reasons to visit the mall, Westfield Capital mall has welcomed several new retailers and also replaced an aging play area with a new soft playground, created by PLAYTIME.

Our retailers are saying that the mall play area attracts more children so it benefits them, as well.

Westfield Capital mall serves a large family demographic. Therefore, mall management “wanted to give our families something interactive, fun, clean and safe for their kids,” says Geoff Mason, General Manager. Like most Westfield properties, Westfield Capital worked with PLAYTIME to create a custom-themed mall play area to honor the region where the center is located.

“It does seem like parents are spending more time here than they used to,” says Mason, who adds that the entire mall is being updated to serve families better. “Our retailers are saying that the mall play area attracts more children so it benefits them, as well.”

All of the soft play elements, surrounding benches, shoe cubbies and carpeting were provided by PLAYTIME, a commercial playground company and the global provider of unique, interactive, soft play areas and playground equipment for indoor, outdoor and water play.

“We are right on the water here and there is a long, rich fishing history in our community, so we chose a water theme,” says Mason, adding that they also painted the ceiling and nearby pillars blue with sea features to make children truly feel immersed in the play experience.

One particular aspect of PLAYTIME’s playground equipment that Westfield Capital parents seem to appreciate is the cleanliness, says Mason. PLAYTIME’s smooth-finish materials are naturally antibacterial, ensuring a healthy play environment for kids of all ages.

“Parents are happy that the kids have something new to play with,” he says. “They feel like it’s a lot cleaner and all of the toys are very soft, so there’s little chance of injury.”

Overall, the new indoor playground, called Play Town, fits perfectly with Westfield Capital’s desire to better serve the families in its community.

“We also updated the family lounge, added new family dining and great new retailers so that families can go to any area of the mall and feel like they have a place to visit. We’re really promoting a family atmosphere.”
