Central Iowa Lawn Mower Racing Association Will Rock and Mow In Advance Of STA-BIL National Series, June 29-30

The Central Iowa Lawn Mower Racing Association (CILMRA) has teamed up with the Iowa Speedway to provide entertainment at the 2nd Annual I-80 Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally, Saturday, June 1, at the Iowa Speedway, in Newton, Iowa. With this partnership the Iowa Speedway will be the Title Sponsor of the 2nd Annual Iowa Speedway STA-BIL Midwest Summer Nationals being held at the River Bottom Raceway in Carlisle, IA June 29 – 30, 2013.

“This is an awesome opportunity for Lawn Mower racers to get out in front of a large crowd at this world class facility right here in Central Iowa," said Curt Hodges, CILMRA Iowa Chapter President. "This bike rally draws national attention and we think the bikers are going to love our mowers. We plan to put on a great show for the crowd."

The Iowa Speedway staff is building a track just outside the main gates at the Iowa Speedway. Track will be open for practice at 2 PM with racing at 3 PM. All drivers will receive a free pass to the rally to include their spouse or guest along with free tent camping.

Lawn mowers race in seven road course classes with all cutting blades removed: Stock (10 mph), IMOW (20 mph), Prepared (50 mph) and Factory Experimental (60 mph). Racers compete for trophies, points and bragging rights, never for purse money.
