America’s top lumberjacks will converge on The Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. June 7-9 for the STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® Series U.S and Collegiate Championships presented by Ram Trucks, the nation’s premier lumberjack competition. The U.S. Championships will feature 20 chopper/sawyers and six collegiate competitors chopping and sawing their way into the record books for a slice of the championship title in front of Outdoor Channel, ESPNU and TUFF TV cameras.
The heart-pumping, wood-chopping action kicks off at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7 and at noon Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9. See full schedule below. The Great Smoky Mountain Lumberjack Feud arena opens an hour before competition each day. Fans of the sport around the country can now join the action thanks to the Series’ live web stream that can be watched here.
Tickets can be purchased at http://www.lumberjackfeud.com. The STIHL TIMBERSPORTS U.S. Championships will host a lumberjack beard challenge on Saturday and Sunday, awarding the best beard in attendance a $100 STIHL product certificate.
On Saturday, June 8, the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series will host and honor the first-responder organization, Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW) for their tremendous and selfless efforts towards aiding victims of natural disasters, including relief for the recent devastating Moore, Okla. EF-5 tornado victims. ROWW activates its deployments within hours of disasters with a passion to aid victims. As an official partner of ROWW, STIHL provides the necessary outdoor power equipment tools to help the volunteers in their relief efforts and recovery processes, including chain saws, augers and cut-off machines.
The Lumberjack Feud will also host the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home at the Championships, providing 80 tickets for children and staff to enjoy the competition and get a taste of the pro lumberjack action and excitement. The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home provides care for at risk children and teens through its Residential Care and Foster Care programs.
In the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS U.S. Championship, the 20 athletes will compete in six lumberjack disciplines including the hot saw, springboard chop, standing block chop, stock saw and underhand chop, racing the clock and each other. They will start in two pools of 10 with the top five in each pool advancing to the final U.S. Championship round Saturday, June 8. The winner not only claims the coveted national title but will advance to the World Championship in Stuttgart, Germany Oct. 25-26.
Sunday’s competition will feature the Collegiate Championship, where the nation’s top six collegiate lumberjacks compete in four professional disciplines, the standing block chop, single buck, stock saw and underhand chop, with the winner receiving an automatic spot in the 2014 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Professional Series and a spot on the international rookie team that will compete at the World Championship in Stuttgart this October. Fans will also get to experience the U.S. Relay competition on Sunday when the give regional teams (Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Northeast, Southern and Western) and one collegiate team face off in a four-discipline race to determine the best lumberjack team in the nation.
