Vygon offers excellent customer service – particularly with regard to the development of the new 12.5cm 5 lumen lines, which we were keen to use and are now available.

Vygon offers a wide range of central venous catheters (CVCs) that provide safe and reliable vascular access. This range of catheters is intended for use in patients who require short-term acute IV therapy.

The new 12.5cm quin lumen Multicath Expert catheter allows increased access through the extra lumen. In addition, it can reduce the risk of catheter migration and infection as the catheter is fully inserted, and there is no need for a secondary fixation of the device.

“It has been reported that placing right-sided CVCs to a maximum of 13cm virtually eliminates the risk of the catheter tip being intra-cardiac.” (Thirteen centimetre central venous catheters, lucky for all? W.C Russell; J.L Parker; Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester LE1 5WW, UK)

This completes our range of high quality CVCs so you can choose the right catheter for the right patient with care and confidence, knowing that they are chlorhexidine-free and silver sulfadiazine-free in light of the recent medical device alert (MDA/2012/048) which states:

“Risk of severe anaphylactic reaction if central venous or haemodialysis catheters including chlorhexidine or silver sulphadiazine are used in patients with an allergy to chlorhexidine, silver sulfadiazine and/or sulfa drugs.”

The Multicath Expert range of acute CVCs uses a chlorhexidine-free, effective long lasting Agion silver ion release technology. This achieves broad antimicrobial protection against gram negative and gram positive bacteria and fungi.

“Vygon provides us with an excellent product with the added benefit of a customised insertion pack, and we have had good experiences with the central catheters and packs. Vygon offers excellent customer service – particularly with regard to the development of the new 12.5cm 5 lumen lines, which we were keen to use and are now available.” (Consultant Anaesthetist, Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, Fife).
