In today's fast-paced world it is, regrettably, easy to forget someone's birthday. Various customers have requested this type of ecard and we hope its humour will soothe any bad feelings that arise on account of someone's birthday being missed.

Premium online ecard retailer, Katie’s Cards, has announced that it will soon be unveiling a new 'belated birthday' ecard. The new ecard, which is the first of its kind on the company’s website, will be launched later this week. After receiving numerous requests from customers for a card of this kind, the company is pleased to be adding to its existing collection of birthday ecards with something slightly different from anything it has done before.
This 'belated birthday' ecard features a smartly dressed brass band joyfully marching through the streets. Dressed in blue uniforms and armed with tubas, flutes and an array of other instruments, the characters march along in time to the rousing music. However, the drummer lags behind the other band members and marches across the screen on his own before the ‘happy belated birthday’ message appears. The card is illustrated in the style of some of the company’s most popular ecards and reflects Katie's Cards' original and creative style.
The CEO of Katie’s Cards, Katie Davies, explained why it was so important for the company to have a 'belated birthday' ecard on their website:
“In today’s fast-paced world it is, regrettably, relatively easy to forget someone’s birthday. We thought, therefore, that it was essential that we have an ecard that our customers could send on these occasions. Our ecards arrive in the inbox of the recipient immediately after they've been sent so their speed helps to make up for lost time. We also hope that the humour of this particular birthday ecard will help to soothe any bad feelings surrounding someone’s birthday being missed!”
Katie’s Cards gave their customers a sneak peek of this belated birthday ecard in early May on the company's blog. Blogging forms a central part of the company’s online marketing strategy and engaging, interesting and varied posts are uploaded to the blog almost every day. The posts on the blog are about the issues that matter most to Katie’s Cards customers – the environment or arts and crafts, for example. However, the blog is also a useful avenue through which to explain more about Katie’s Cards work and to announce new ecards that will be appearing on the site.
The blog post in which the belated birthday ecard featured aimed to enlighten dedicated Katie’s Cards customers about the process behind the creation of each animated ecard. All the work to create the static and animated ecards on the company’s website is carried out in-house. The process begins with a brainstorm by the creative team who come up with ideas for a new ecard. The company is constantly adding to the selection of ecards on its website and a lot of thought goes into each card the team creates. The ecard categories range from the traditional birthday ecards and Christmas ecards to those which can be sent for a diverse range of cultural festivals.
Once the theme has been decided upon, the in-house illustrators get to work creating a storyboard for the ecard. This involves coming up with a series of rough sketches of the characters that will be featured in the ecard. The individual images gradually evolve as the storyline is finalised, the colour palette is chosen and the characters are brought to a life by the Katie’s Cards animator. All the ecards on the company’s website are set to music and choosing the right piece of music to accompany each card is essential, indeed this belated birthday ecard is accompanied by a punchy, entertaining marching song.
The belated birthday ecard joins a diverse range of birthday ecards available on the company's website. From the beautiful 'Birthday Flowers' ecard, perfect to send somebody with a Spring birthday, to the Jungle Jingle children's birthday ecard, to the interactive 'Cake Munchers' ecard game, Katie Davies hopes that there is a birthday ecard to suit a wide variety of tastes and interests.
Like all of the ecards on the Katie's Cards website, the belated birthday ecard provides an environmentally friendly way of keeping in touch with family and friends. No resources are needed to make or send the ecards and they don't need to be transported by air, land or sea to be delivered. This is indicative of the company's eco-friendly ethos. All the birthday ecards on the Katie’s Cards website are available exclusively to the company's members who, for the small cost of a subscription, can send an unlimited number of ecards throughout their membership. Members can also pre-schedule ecards to be sent at a future date so, technically, there shouldn't be a reason to miss someone's birthday ever again. If this eventuality does arise, then at least this belated birthday ecard will be there to save the day.
