“Healing the Soul,” an exhibit of paintings by Hunt Valley artist Afsaneh Faridi, opens Friday, June 7 in the Himmelfarb Gallery at Maryland University of Integrative Health. An artist reception, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for Thursday, June 20 from 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
The exhibit will showcase 17 of Faridi’s oil paintings reproduced on canvas (giclee) with sizes ranging from 60 x 28 to 10 x 12.
According to Faridi, “I am inspired by the healing power of art. I exhibit on canvas the messages of peace, love, happiness, friendship, freedom, calmness and strength that are derived from nature. Each painting is accompanied by an inspirational title.”
Artwork from the exhibit will be on sale through the Meeting point bookstore, which is adjacent to the gallery. Visit the Himmelfarb Gallery online.

About Afsaneh Faridi
Afsaneh means story in Persian. She uses her art to communicate the messages of peace, love, happiness, and freedom. She sees the positive energy of nature as a means to get inner peace that is needed to be in harmony with the world. She uses mediums of oil, watercolor, and digital arts. All of her arts are accompanied by an inspirational quote by her. She graduated Cum Laude from Washington State University with Bachelor of Fine Arts, B.A. in 1981, and Master of Arts in Clothing & Textiles, M.A. in 1983. She has received a Certificate of Digital Illustration with Honors from the Community College of Baltimore County, Maryland in 2011. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
