Virginia’s Own Cafesano Updates its Catering, Dine-in and Takeout Menus

To meet the increased demand for fresh-casual Italian & Mediterranean food, Cafesano freshens up its dine-in, takeout and Northern Virginia catering menus by removing unpopular items, remaking the old favorites and introducing new foods.

Entrée salads now come in easily manageable side salad portions

We have been perfecting our Northern Virginia catering menu for a while to make it healthy and different from traditional catering food.

Just in time for the busy summer season, Cafesano expands its eat-in, takeout and catering menus by adding several new appetizers, a la carte salads, new pizzas and updating the café’s wine and beer assortment.

Avocado Dip, Tomato Parmesan Flatbread and Melanzana Arrabbiata Flatbread have all joined the list of customer-favorite appetizers. “Flatbreads have become very popular and are relatively healthy – so a good fit for us,” shared Joanne McDaniel, marketing director at Cafesano, adding that this change allowed for more variety in the traditional Mediterranean appetizer selection.

The salad menu also received an update and now offers side salad options for all entrée salads. McDaniel commented on this decision by saying that side salads were always popular at Cafesano and come in generous portions, but now “guests have an opportunity to pair any salad with another entrée item,” which allows for more flexibility and reasonable portion sizes.

McDaniel added that the side salad addition was largely inspired by customer feedback, along with the inclusion of a Grilled Kafta Wrap & Kafta Kabob into the menu. “Our guests who especially enjoy authentic Mediterranean food requested that we consider adding Kafta to our menu,” shared McDaniel.

Among other changes, beer selection at Cafesano now includes premium craft beers, such as Fat Tire, Brooklyn Lager, Vienna Lager and a few varieties of the famous Dogfish Head. A list of available wines features popular wines from California, Italy and New Zealand priced per glass or per bottle.

The brick oven pizza menu now features four new recipes: Malenzana (eggplant and fresh basil), Shawarma (marinated roasted chicken), Lombardi (prosciutto & fresh arugula) and Porcello (bacon with arugula & gorgonzola salad).

Many of the new items are also included in the updated catering menu in larger portion sizes designed to feed large groups of people during business lunches, corporate events or family gatherings. “We have been perfecting our Northern Virginia catering menu for a while now to make it healthy and different from traditional catering food,” shared McDaniel.

Some items, such as Greek Pizza, have been removed from the menu due to the low demand. “Whenever we remove an item from our menu, we know we’re going to have a few guests who are disappointed that we no longer offer it, but we are happy to make the item as a special order,” commented McDaniel, pointing out the importance of customer satisfaction for Cafesano.
