Eagle Scout candidate Zach Child, Push to the Finish, and Lendio participated in the Run Into Spring 5k, Saturday May 25, 2013. The run took place at the J.L. Sorenson Recreation Center, 5350 West Herriman Main Street, Herriman, UT.
Utah-based non-profit Push to the Finish provides opportunities for children with physical disabilities to experience the enjoyment, competition, and sense of accomplishment associated with participating in a road race. Seasoned runners paired with disabled children as they took on a sanctioned 5k race course. A Push to the Finish runner pushed the child from start to finish, covered the entire registration cost, and allowed the child to shine for the day as they wore their numbered running bib and the race’s t-shirt.
“We couldn’t be more excited to participate with Zach and Push to the Finish,” said Lendio founder and CEO Brock Blake. “This was a great opportunity to support the community and participate with an organization like Push to the Finish along with a fine young person like Zach. The ‘Our Legs Their Heart’ motto really resonated with us. We were honored to participate in this event.”
Zach Child is currently a sophomore at Bingham High School. An honor roll student with a 4.0 GPA, he is a member of Bingham’s Cross Country and Track teams—running almost 5,000 miles over the last two years in practice and competition. As a Life Scout, his Eagle Project is the last step before he achieves his Eagle Scout Award.
In 2012, Push the Finish pushed over 70 children over 215 miles in 13 races throughout Utah working with various Utah children’s charities that include The Make a Wish Foundation, the Epilepsy Association of Utah, The United Way, and Hope Kids.
