Edward A. Tognoni, president of Nettleton Shoes, announces a return to the market of Nettleton’s signature high-end men’s footwear. For over 130 years, Nettleton has infused Old World craftsmanship and the finest materials into timeless statements of Style and Prestige: producing The Classic Shoe for the True Modern Gentleman.
In parallel with a revival of interest in classic, timeless clothing and accessories, Nettleton Shoes is reintroducing itself to consumers after an absence of nearly 30 years. In the late 80's, the Nettleton Group's brand and facilities were purchased by US Shoe Company, which proceeded to consolidate many shoe manufacturers and brands into one central facility and sought to take the company in an entirely different direction, putting the brand name at jeopardy and causing production to cease. Fortunately the Nettleton Shoe brand was subsequently repurchased by the original owners.
At this point, the Nettleton Shoe brand was no longer being produced, and had dropped out of the market. The Tognoni family, rather than hastily reintroducing the brand with a sub-par, cheapened, “discount” version of the once-notable footwear, decided to rebuild their infrastructure and facilities, focusing on other lines until the time was right.
Despite a lack of production, the after-market trade in Nettleton Shoes—some of which were originally crafted before WWI—continued to be robust. After three decades of rebuilding and preparation, Nettleton Shoes has begun again.
Tognoni says: “We are a 137 year-old company that views footwear as an art form. We do not intend to be trendy; but to offer the foundation styles and colors that shape a gentleman’s wardrobe. We look forward to serving our new and longtime customers through our online store and through a network of select retailers both nationally and internationally. Nettleton Shoes are back, because a Gentleman of Worth deserves a lifestyle as rich in quality as it is in tradition.”
Nettleton Shoes are crafted for fashion-savvy gentlemen, and can currently be found on their website, at exclusive trunk shows, and at fine men's stores nationwide.
