A lot of time was spent rewriting parts of our core code just to make 'Multiple Bookings' feasible. The bright side is that our code is now cleaner, meaner and more robust as a result.

Events Manager for WordPress is a popular plugin which turns your WordPress website into a fully fledged event registration and bookings system whilst providing a multitude of configurable options.

After several months of development, a new feature called “Multiple Bookings Mode” has recently been added to the Events Manager Pro (premium) add-on which accompanies the free version. This feature allows guests to book spaces for more than one event at a time, meaning payment is made once all events have been chosen, as well as avoiding unnecessary repetition of information whilst making subsequent bookings.

Marcus Sykes, lead developer and founder of NetWebLogic, the company behind Events Manager, says:

“This is a unique feature which separates the plugin from other events software, as far as I am aware there is no other events software (not limited to WordPress plugins) which allows multiple event bookings to be made in one go whilst being managed from within the software itself. This was one of the more commonly sought after features by our customers, so we went ahead and added it!”

Essentially, one could liken the new ‘Multiple Bookings Mode’ feature to a ‘shopping cart’ structure. Users add their bookings to a ‘basket’ and check out once they are done. This is extremely useful for websites that sell tickets to various events such concerts, courses, conferences, shows and sporting events. Some examples include festivals with various performances on separate days/times, courses that are separated into modules or a conference with different speakers in different rooms.

This opens up a lot of new possibilities for those using the plugin, and also adds another professional touch to an already comprehensive event management system.

“Multiple Bookings Mode is by no means an easy feature to implement either. A lot of time was spent rewriting parts of our core code just to make it feasible. The bright side is that our code is now cleaner, meaner and more robust as a result. As always our intention is to expand the plugin according to what our users need and request.”

Events Manager is constantly growing and improving, providing not only a powerful events system for end-users but also a flexible framework for developers wanting to make custom implementations for their customers and websites. Multiple Bookings Mode is hot off the press, and work has already commenced on various new projects in the pipeline. Features are added on a regular basis and this major addition is surely a sign of good things to come to make the plugin even more powerful.

About Events Manager - Events Manager is the most popular events plugin for WordPress and is freely available for download via wordpress.org.
