Speculation over Mcilroy’s management move has confused many at this point in the season and it may not necessarily be the solution to the performance issues he’s had of late.
(PRWEB UK) 31 May 2013
Rory Mcilroy is reportedly leaving his management team at Horizon Sports to form his own management comprising of family, friends and close confidants – reports the Belfast Telegraph on May 30.
The reported departure from his management company follows a $250 million deal with Nike secured at the end of 2012 - according to the Belfast Telegraph.
The world number two golfer has put in a disappointing performance of late, failing to shine in both the BMW PGA Championship European Tour and Memorial Championship. The speculation over his management is not thought to have helped matters, but it is thought the golfer may desire more control over his career.
Mcilroy is so far refusing to confirm or deny the claims, due to contract restraints.
A spokesperson from GolfStoreEurope said:
“Speculation over Mcilroy’s management move has confused many at this point in the season and it may not necessarily be the solution to the performance issues he’s had of late. It will be interesting to see how this develops and how Mcilroy will fair overall in the Memorial Championship. After a disappointing result in the BMW PGA, many are likely to be willing for the golfer to improve his performance soon.”
