Adam Goslin, nationally recognized security speaker, will demystify PCI-DSS compliance standards and IT Security for CPAs on June 6th in Grand Rapids Michigan, enabling attendees to help clients understand crucial requirements for accepting credit cards

“High Bit Security is all about helping business owners sleep better."

The realization that they must comply with the massive and confusing set of requirements called PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) can overwhelm businesses. Many are unaware of their need to be in compliance, and even more are signing off on compliance documents without realizing that they are taking on substantial risk to the organization in terms of both liability and fines.

Established in 2004 to provide parameters intended to protect credit card information, the standard encompasses around 260 different broken out requirements, and covers everything from hiring and firing to firewall / host configuration and virus protection. All organizations that accept credit cards are required to comply with the full breadth of PCI-DSS requirements.

“As a trusted business adviser, the CPA is often the first place businesses will turn for help,” said High Bit Security Chief Business Development Officer, Barbara Goushaw. “That’s why the MACPA (Michigan Association of CPAs) invites High Bit Security to present at their conferences, and help their members to understand what the client faces with PCI-DSS compliance and IT Security requirements.”

Presenting the material will be High Bit Security COO, Adam Goslin. Well known for his presentations on a wide range of security related topics, Goslin leads the team that works directly with clients to achieve PCI compliance and coordinate activities with auditors (Qualified Security Assessors or QSAs). “High Bit Security is all about helping business owners sleep better. Our core competencies are assisting clients with becoming PCI-DSS compliant and performing penetration testing (IT security testing) on their systems and applications to assess where they have security vulnerabilities,” Said Goslin. “High Bit Security genuinely enjoys presenting to the CPA community, because they understand how important it is to keep sensitive information secure, and are eager to learn all they can to help their own organization and their clients.”

The MACPA Management & Information Business Show will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 5700 28th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 on June 6th from 8am to 5:20pm. Registration information is available at http://www.michcpa.org
