Canton, CT (PRWEB) May 31, 2013
Strong response to Solarize Canton’s discount solar pricing has resulted in the program achieving Tier 3 pricing, helping Canton residents save thousands of dollars in solar installation costs. The program is celebrating its success with a Solar Installation Open House on Saturday, June 8, giving residents a chance to see panels being installed on the roof of the Knudson home, talking to the homeowner, Jeff Knudsen, and meeting the installer team from Ross Solar. Town officials and volunteers will also be attending. The open house will be held at 140 Bunker Hill Road in Collinsville from 9:30-noon.
Jeff Knudsen’s solar system is expected to save him approximately $1,800 a year on his electric bill. The system will be installed over a three-day period, with the panels being installed at the June 8th event. In addition to saving over $2,000 on system costs through Solarize Canton, Mr. Knudsen is financing his project with a CT Solar Loan. “By financing our system, it pays for itself, because our electricity savings are pretty close to our loan payments. There is very little out of pocket.” By financing his solar installation with a CT Solar Loan, Mr. Knudsen’s system will yield an estimated after-tax return of 9.3% and $33,002 in Solar Wealth™ over 30 years. “Ross Solar Group gave us a link to the Solar Wealth™ Calculator which made it really helpful to understand what it is you’re financing, and we were able to apply online”
The town of Canton along with Mansfield and Windham, Bridgeport and Coventry have been selected to participate in Solarize Connecticut, a State-sponsored program through Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority that combines coordinated town education and outreach efforts with a tiered pricing offer from a pre-selected installer to significantly increase residential solar. The more residents participate in the program, the more the price drops, with all residents receiving the lowest possible price for their installation no matter when the sign up for the program. However, residents must sign a contract by July 12, 2013 to qualify. In Phase 1 of Solarize Connecticut, participating towns more than doubled the amount of solar during the 20-week program than had been purchased over the previous 7 years. Canton is hoping for equally positive results.
Residents interested in learning more about solar technology and how the Solarize financing works are encouraged to attend the open house.
