Bend, Oregon (PRWEB) May 31, 2013
Wade Holmes, the vice president of technology for BendBroadband, has recently been appointed by Governor Kitzhaber to serve on the Oregon Broadband Advisory Council. The council was formed to encourage Oregon organizations and businesses to leverage broadband for economic and educational benefits. Holmes will be working with the council members to promote broadband utilization by citizens and communities, while helping represent Oregon's telecommunications service providers.
In a statement released earlier this month, Joe Franell, General Manager and CEO of Eastern Oregon Telecom, and the Chair of the council said that the appointment of Mr. Holmes is great news for the citizens of Oregon. “The presence of such qualified people on the Broadband Advisory Council will greatly assist us in making sure that Oregon remains a leader in the deployment and use of broadband."
Holmes joined BendBroadband seven years ago and has played a leadership role in numerous technical initiatives during his tenure. In his current role, he is responsible for accelerating growth from BendBroadband’s technology portfolio, and expanding business for the company’s Bend, Oregon data center, the Vault, the only Uptime Institute Tier III-rated colocation data center in the Western United States. Holmes was recognized as a BendBroadband Key Contributor in 2007 and Leader of the Year for the company in 2008.
Holmes will be presenting at the TechJunction conference in Canyonville, Oregon on June 7 with a lecture entitled “Cold Iron to Clouds,” which will help businesses navigate the leap from dedicated physical hardware to a virtual server environment. TechJunction is a series of educational conferences focused on information security, IT infrastructure and communications.
