On June 1, 2013, the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee will complete the first phase of ticket sales for the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games. Over the course of the summer, spectator places within the stands will be automatically allocated. The Sochi 2014 tickets purchased by lucky ones before the 1st of June via Sochi 2014 ticketing web site will be allocated according to the chosen ticket category.

Those who didn`t manage to buy tickets before June 1 will have to wait till autumn. With the first phase being over ticket sales through the official website for the 2014 Games, tickets.sochi2014.com, will be suspended till autumn, when the second phase of the Ticketing Program begins, with tickets then being available for specific seats in the stadiums. As of now statistics show that the majority of spectators have bought tickets for their whole family and, on average, plan to attend at least three events.

Seating allocation

In accordance with conventional practice at each Olympics, the Ticketing Program for the Games in Sochi is carried out in several stages: the sales of seats for different categories, the allocation of specific places to tickets and the sales of tickets with specific seats. Over the course of the summer, all Sochi 2014 tickets will be allocated specific places.

The allocation of seats will be an entirely automatic process. Specially designed software for this process was created by Sochi 2014 Supplier CTS Eventim AG. The software's algorithm calculates the closest seating arrangement for spectators who bought tickets in one order or batch. For example, if someone has bought four tickets to one of the women's hockey matches, then they will receive four seats close to each other. However, if someone makes several orders to purchase tickets, then seats will be allocated at random by the system.

After allocation, seat numbers can be accessed via personal accounts on tickets.sochi2014.com.

Ticket Website

During the allocation process, ticket sales will be temporarily suspended on the tickets.sochi2014.com website. However, from June 1 to July 1, spectators will still be able to change the delivery address for the tickets purchased on their personal account. From July 1 until the second phase of the Ticketing Program, the site will only be available for viewing: changes to orders will not be possible. In the autumn, the sales of tickets (with specific seats) will resume on the site.

Initial Sales

According to statistics, at the present time, the majority of tickets have been bought by fans in the Central Federal District of Russia (37% of tickets), Southern Federal District (34% of tickets) and Volga Federal District (8% of tickets). The majority of tickets have been bought by residents of Moscow and the Moscow Region, Sochi and Tuapse, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, St Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Stavropol, Voronezh, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Samara, Saratov, Perm and Novorossiysk.

Spectator Pass

All spectators must show their Spectator Pass as well as their ticket to gain access to the sports events. Applications for passes can be made via the following website: https://pass.sochi2014.com.

The Spectator Pass issuing system was successfully tested at the Test Events during the 2012-2013 season.

Notes to the Editor

Tickets for the Sochi Olympic Games were put on general sale exactly one year before the start of the Games - on February 7, 2013. Citizens living in the Russian Federation can only buy tickets through the official tickets website of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and the XI Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi - tickets.sochi2014.com. Outside the Russian Federation, tickets can be bought exclusively from the Official Ticket Agencies appointed by the NOC of each country.

The Supplier of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee in the "Ticketing Services" category - CTS Eventim AG - is Europe's leading service provider for ticket sales, represented in Russia by the ticketing agency PARTER.RU. The company provided a platform for ticket sales, including technological and operational solutions based on innovative ticketing operations, which will help the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee to provide a transparent ticket distribution system for the Games.
