Lincoln, NE based company Excel Development Group, Inc. and City Impact came together on May 29th for the ribbon cutting of City Impact Homes. The public was invited to share in the completion of City Impact Homes at 3205 Overland Trail in Lincoln, NE. A short program and kick-off celebration were part of the ribbon cutting ceremony.

“For many working families, the rent to own program is an ideal way for them to get into home ownership. In our hometown of Lincoln, City Impact Homes is filling a need for large homes with a strong supportive services component that will help these residents become homeowners. Excel Development Group is committed to developing high-quality, affordable housing for families and we are pleased to partner with City Impact,” said Brent Williams, President and CEO, Excel Development Group.

City Impact Homes is made up of six, new duplex-style town homes and two new single-family homes on three acres of land located on Overland Trail between 33rd and 31st Streets in Lincoln. Town homes are available in three, four and five bedroom units.

“As our programs expanded, the key element that appeared to be missing was stable, affordable housing. Having a clean and safe place to call home is a basic need and once a family has that, other areas of their lives will flourish,” said Brad Bryan, Executive Director of City Impact.

City Impact, a faith-based organization, was founded in 1997. City Impact offers a number of programs and services including a Bible club, reading center, Gifts of Love, leadership academy and mentoring reaching about 300 youth and their families per week. City Impact Homes is their first affordable housing project.

City Impact Homes utilized CROWN tax credits, a program used throughout the country to help families purchase a home, achieving their dream of home ownership. Qualified residents will rent the town homes or homes for an initial 15-year period. During the initial 15-year period, a number of local services and resources will be provided to residents to assist them in becoming homeowners including home ownership education in the areas of credit, finance and home maintenance to position them to be able to purchase the home at the end of the 15th year. Additionally, a small stipend from their monthly rent will be put into an account that will be available to them to help purchase the home at the end of year 15.

Excel Development Group is a development, asset/property management and consulting company headquartered in Lincoln, NE with two other offices in Topeka, KS and Shawnee, OK.
