4DX theatre occupancy rate hit new record levels during showings of Iron Man 3. 4DX completely reimagines the spectacular action scenes and special effects of Hollywood's most anticipated blockbuster of 2013. Korona Theater first introduced 4DX in Japan on April 26, 2013. Customers are flocking to showings with thus advanced 4DX technologies. Korona reported occupancy rates of 99.4% over the first six days, with very high occupancy continuing thereafter. Iron Man 3 in 4DX has not only been a hot ticket in Japan.
Cumulative occupancy rates for Iron Man 3 in 4DX are strong in a number of markets. In Thailand, theatre occupancy was 91.7 percent, in Korea 75.4 percent, in Hungary 77.2 percent, in Peru 72.4 percent, in Mexico 71.1 percent, and in Brazil 69.4 percent between April 25 and May 1. Across the board, this is one of the best rates ever in the history of 4DX movies. Additionally, it shows 20-30 percent higher occupancy than the average rate of 2D, 3D occupancy rate.
Global media is paying increased attention to 4DX. Major Japanese media outlets like NHK, Fuji TV, TBS, Nippon TV, Yomiuri Newspaper, Asahi Newspaper published reports regarding 4DX in Japan. Stories focus on the novel effects of 4D technology -- scent, water, bubbles and much more. Global entertainment media heavyweights like Hollywood Reporter and Variety have also covered 4DX technology and global expansion. In particular, the president of Cinepolis Alejandro suggested 4DX as the key to the film industry's future in an interview with Variety.
The global outlook for CGV 4DX is bright with the success of Iron Man 3. 4DX appeals to new theater operators. 4DX made numerous contacts at CinemaCon (Apr. 16~18, Las Vegas), the biggest annual exhibition in film industry. CGV 4DX operated a complete experience zone and counseled almost 600 theatre industry executives over the three days. As a result, more than 50 global theater operators showed high interest in 4DX business opportunities.
Currently operating 49 screens in 13 countries 4DX is expanding consistently. Aggressive overseas marketing us accelerating the expansion. Soon, 4DX will expand to five new national markets, including Indonesia, UAE, India, Vietnam, Columbia. They are aiming for 100 screen openings in 27 countries through the end of 2013.
