At a time of complex global challenges and domestic fiscal constraints, the U.S. military has an urgent need to fight more efficiently. Senior leaders are hungry for innovative ideas, and a generation of combat-experienced young leaders is stepping up to the challenge. Dedicated volunteers from all five branches of service--the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard--have teamed up to create the Defense Entrepreneurs Forum, a breakthrough conference designed to promote innovation within the military and collaboration with civilian partners.
From October 12-14, emerging military leaders will converge at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. The conference will consist of two elements. The mornings will feature TED-style talks by proven defense innovators, which will inspire participants and equip them with the tools to create positive change within their home commands. The heart of the conference will be the afternoon Ideation groups, in which small teams will develop and refine innovative ideas. On the final morning, Ideation groups will pitch their proposals to a panel of flag officers and successful entrepreneurs for judging and possible action. Throughout the conference, University of Chicago professors, civilian partners, and select senior military leaders will provide mentorship and guidance.
