Approved Colleges, an online college and post-secondary education resource, announced today that it has partnered with to offer students a unique selection of low-cost college courses that offer a risk-free, first-time trial.

The SOPHIA program is a win-win for students and schools, and we’re happy to be able to offer SOPHIA on Approved Colleges alongside our other schools and programs.

SOPHIA is an online education platform that provides free resources for students and teachers as well as a pathway to an affordable college degree through a self-paced program, SOPHIA Pathways for College Credit, which offers online courses for transferable college credit at a significant savings over traditional college classes. The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT®) has evaluated and recommended college credit for five of SOPHIA’s online courses. More than 2,000 colleges and universities consider ACE CREDIT® recommendations in determining the applicability to their course and degree programs.

“Student loan debt has reached almost a trillion dollars, and many students don’t have a degree to show for their debt,” said Tony Huffman, president of Approved Colleges. “The SOPHIA program allows students to find out if online education is right for them while earning credit, without enrolling in a degree program or using Federal financial aid. It is a win-win for students and schools, and we’re happy to be able to offer SOPHIA on Approved Colleges alongside our other schools and programs.”

Approved Colleges offers students the opportunity to browse and research thousands of online schools and programs including many that the SOPHIA program credits may transfer to. The catalog of courses promoted by Approved Colleges from SOPHIA includes College Algebra, Introduction to Psychology, Human Biology, Introduction to Sociology and Introduction to Statistics. Courses are priced at $329 – a significant savings for students interested in beginning or continuing their college career online.

“We developed these courses to not only make higher education accessible and affordable but to provide options that enable students to earn college credits on their own time and at their own pace and not be tied to a rigid schedule,” said Allison Gage, president of SOPHIA. “Our program further enhance the learning process by giving students the ability to choose from a variety of teachers to ensure they understand and absorb the material – a fact that is evident in our 90 percent completion rate.”

Students can enroll in SOPHIA’s online courses for college credit at any time.
