Organization partners with Gone Pro to offer career aid to ex-professional athletes.

The NFL Players Association, Former Players - Chicago Chapter has partnered with Gone Pro, a company that offers career management and job placement services to former collegiate and professional athletes, to host the 2013 Career Expo and Business Networking Mixer for former professional athletes and top business executives. The event will take place on Saturday, June 15, 2013 in Chicago, Illinois. The career expo will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the business networking mixer will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The career expo portion of the day will be devoted to providing former professional athletes who are looking to kick-start or advance their post-playing careers with the most advanced methods available to help gain an insight and understanding of their strengths and execute a game plan. Participants will receive a full debriefing of their individual career assessment results via the Birkman Method®, a state of the art and industry-leading assessment tool that provides highly personalized guidance to set career direction and refine professional focus. This will be followed by an extensive training course, which will cover resume preparation, relationship building and networking, career mapping, and the utilization of job placement services.

The business networking mixer will consist of Chicago area business executives and former professional athletes who are interested in expanding their professional network, establishing new business opportunities, and learning about great local companies.

"Our organization is committed to help facilitate the transitioning of our brothers into new careers and new opportunities," said Reggie Smith. "We help our members use that same passion and drive they had on the playing field in the business community. Through a series of planned networking mixers, we plan to further expose our members to business, political and community leaders so that they may continue to reach new dreams."
