Fredric Berger, P.E., chairman of The Louis Berger Group, Inc. (LBG), has recently been appointed to two prominent advisory boards on national and international affairs.

Berger will serve on the international advisory board of the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP). The advisory board supports the USIP by broadening, building and strengthening engagement with U.S. military and civilian government agencies, nongovernmental organizations and international government organizations. The USIP was created in 1984 as a global, nonpartisan, conflict management center. It works to prevent, mitigate and resolve international conflicts through nonviolent means.

Berger will also serve on a newly created advisory board to assist the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) in designing a worldwide program to support sustainable procurement policies. The new program will also help educate emerging nations on how to enhance their public procurement practices. The USTDA’s mission is to help companies create jobs in the United States through the export of U.S. goods and services for development projects in emerging economies.

“I am honored by these appointments and am looking forward to adding the perspective of private sector development professionals to these boards that aim to strengthen U.S. relations with our global partners,” Berger said.

These appointments reflect Berger’s long professional commitment to sustainable economic international development. His volunteer work in engineering and education has led to such leadership roles as founding trustee of the American University of Afghanistan.

Berger has been chairman of LBG since 2007. He is also a director of LBG’s parent company, Berger Group Holdings.
