During the past 90 days, more than 60,000 jobs were advertised online for e-commerce professionals in the United States, according to WANTED Analytics™ (http://www.wantedanalytics.com), the leading source of real-time business intelligence for the talent marketplace. As more selling opportunities take place online, companies are implementing robust e-commerce platforms to meet consumer needs. The number of jobs requiring e-commerce skills grew 14% year-over-year when compared to April of 2012 and more than 300% in the past 4 years.

Technology, marketing, management, and sales occupations most commonly specified e-commerce in their job ads over the past 90 day. IT jobs accounted for approximately 50% of all demand, with about 31,000 jobs. The 10 most in-demand job titles include:

1. Web Developer
2. Java Developer
3. Business Analyst
4. Merchant Services Sales Account Executive
5. Account Executive
6. E-commerce Business Analyst
7. Senior Java Developer
8. Project Manager E-commerce
9. .NET Developer
10. Account Executive Business-to-Business Sales

With demand for e-commerce professionals growing quickly, it is likely to be difficult to source potential candidates. As demand continues, conditions and the level of difficulty may increase. According to the Hiring Scale™, these positions score a 69 on average across the United States. (The Hiring Scale ranges from 1 to 99, with 99 representing the most difficult conditions.) Local conditions will vary widely, depending on regional demand and talent supply. Currently, some of the best areas to recruit this talent are Santa Rosa (CA), McAllen (TX), and Green Bay (WI). In these areas, demand remains low, yet there are pools of qualified potential candidates. Santa Rosa presents the least difficulties, scoring a 20 on the Hiring Scale.

The Hiring Scale measures conditions in local job markets by comparing hiring demand and labor supply. The Hiring Scale is part of the WANTED Analytics platform that offers business intelligence for the talent marketplace.
