“New Uses for Old Stuff” is a new monthly feature starting in the June issue of the newsletter “Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles,” which will continue to give collectors current information on sales, auctions, trends and reproductions. "New Uses for Old Stuff” will help collectors give renewed life to old items.
“There is a great deal of interest in repurposing older antiques and collectibles for use today,” according to Terry Kovel. “This isn’t new. It has been done for generations. Remember Peter Hunt, who in the 1940s and '50s redecorated furniture from the 1930s. His colorful redecorated folk art pieces are now expensive collectibles.”
In the June issue, the new column shows how to repurpose old broken lampshades by removing the fabric cover and using the frame in the garden as a trellis for peonies. They’ll grow tall enough to hide the frame.
The new Kovels column will feature bottle trees, reworked chests of drawers, unique chairs, antique button art, and more old stuff given a second life.
With its mixture of expert advice and reports on what’s hot in the market, Kovels newsletter has something to offer both beginning and experienced collectors. “Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles” is available as a print subscription or as a digital version that is part of Kovels.com Premium.
Terry Kovel, well-known columnist and author, gives information and advice on collecting. She will discuss antiques and collectibles topics with accredited media. Photographs are available. Contact pr(at)kovels.com.
