Karen Orloff Kaplan, M.S.W., M.P.H., Sc.D. joins the Prevent Cancer Foundation as the Director of Policy and Advocacy. Dr. Kaplan will focus on engaging lawmakers, policymakers, key opinion leaders and grassroots advocates in issues related to cancer prevention and early detection, as well as cancer research and access to quality patient care. “We are excited to have such an accomplished leader as Karen head our Policy and Advocacy division,” said Carolyn Aldigé, Prevent Cancer Foundation President and Founder. “Her many years of experience in the health policy field will be a tremendous asset as we advance our mission of saving lives through cancer prevention and early detection.”

She served as a consultant to the American Cancer Society on palliative care and was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Partnership for Caring (PFC). Dr. Kaplan also served as a senior health staff associate to then-Congressman Ron Wyden, advising him on health policy and social issues.
