San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 03, 2013
Global Equity Finance, a San Diego-based national mortgage and refinance company, today announced that it is teaming with well-known sports equipment retailer Sports Authority and the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) for Build-a-Bike, an event aimed at purchasing and building bicycles for 6 families who have survived domestic violence.
The event is targeted towards helping those families associated with the YWCA and Becky’s House, an organization that provides victims of domestic abuse a chance to get their lives back on track by providing work and paid housing for up to a year. GEQ Finance plans to raise at least $2500 through Fundly in order to purchase bikes for 11 children from Bikes for Goodness Sake.
“Really, the goal we’re trying to accomplish here it to provide these 11 kids with the same kind of enjoyment every other kid gets from owning and riding a bike at some point in their childhood,” said Sarina Baccam, events manager for Global Equity. “As a home loan and refinance company, it’s obviously important to us that everyone have a roof over their head, but we also understand how important a community can be as well. Many of the children here will miss out on a 'normal' childhood; many will never get to ride a bike. Many of these children have seen violence firsthand. We want to give them a chance at something that every child should have – the ability to ride their very own bike. We don’t just lend loans at GEQ, we lend hands as well.”
The company plans to hold the event on Sunday, July 14th, 2013.
