Hopefully the money we raise can help assist with the women’s rehabilitation and help Celeste re-enter the field of cosmetology.

Oceanside College of Beauty is holding a cut-a-thon to benefit two of the surviving victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. On Saturday, June 15, Oceanside College of Beauty will donate all of the proceeds made on the salon clinic floor that day to the Celeste & Sydney Recovery Fund. The cut-a-thon will take place two months to the day after the tragic event in Boston.
Celeste Corcoran, a Boston-area hairstylist, was near the finish line with her daughter, Sydney, waiting to see her sister run by when the first bomb detonated. Celeste had to have both legs amputated because of the extent of her injuries. Sydney severed a major blood vessel in her right thigh, but doctors were able to save her leg. In response to the tragedy, salons and spas nationwide have joined together to organize cut-a-thons and raise money for Celeste's and Sydney's medical needs.
On Saturday, June 15, Oceanside College of Beauty will donate all of the proceeds made on the salon clinic floor between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to the Celeste & Sydney Recovery Fund. Students will also be collecting donations and selling raffle tickets for gift baskets in order to raise more money.
The school is located at 1575 S. Coast Highway in Oceanside, California. For more information on the cut-a-thon, please call 760-757-6161. You can also find additional details and RSVP to the event on the Oceanside College of Beauty Page on Facebook.
“I’m proud of our new Student Council for taking the initiative and organizing this upcoming cut-a-thon. Hopefully the money we raise can help assist with the women’s rehabilitation and help Celeste re-enter the field of cosmetology,” Ray Stainback said, the owner of Oceanside College of Beauty.
