New partnerships allow us to offer star gazers unique opportunities not only to learn about the night sky, but to pair it with kayaking on Lake Tahoe or listening to the sounds of an incredible string quartet.

With the summer season on the horizon, travelers making plans to visit Lake Tahoe are invited to explore the wonder of the starry night sky in a different way with Tahoe Star Tours, the premier star gazing experience in North Lake Tahoe, sponsored by Celestron Telescopes. This season, Tahoe Star Tours has partnered with Northstar California Resort, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Adventure Company to offer participants distinctive opportunities to experience the night sky in the Sierra – whether it’s a traditional tour of the night sky, or one paired with activities such as kayaking, musical performances by Accent string quartet, or a “Space Jam” featuring a special guest speaker.

Star guide and poet, Tony Berendsen, president of the Northern Nevada Science Coalition, leads each tour, with every one featuring a lively science-based talk about the cosmos, poetry reading and telescopic viewing exclusively featuring use of multiple telescopes provided by the world’s leading telescope manufacturer, Celestron. These telescopes use leading edge computerized technology enabling sharp, accurate pointing and tracking, with optics for clear, clean images.

“This season, we’ll use Celestron’s 14-inch computerized telescope for the first time, allowing for deep space viewing of galaxies, clusters and nebulae,” said Tony Berendsen, operator of Tahoe Star Tours. “We’ve also expanded our partnership with Northstar, as well as created new partnerships with The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Adventure Company, allowing us to offer star gazers unique opportunities not only to learn about the night sky, but to pair it with kayaking on Lake Tahoe or listening to the sounds of an incredible string quartet.”
