This expansion comes in response to client demand as the industry enters a new period of rapid and profound transition
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 05, 2013
Clarke & Company (http://www.clarke-company.com) announced today at the Society for Scholarly Publishing's 33rd Annual Meeting that Pam Harley has joined the firm as Senior Consultant. Harley brings over 20 years of experience, straddling both software and scientific, technical, and medical (STM) publishing.
"Pam's background in product development, digital strategy, and semantic technology provides a significant addition to the firm and a fantastic resource for our clients," said Clarke & Company President, Michael Clarke.
This expansion comes in response to client demand as the industry enters a new period of rapid and profound transition. "During the last two decades the industry has migrated content online, developed institutional site licensing, and expanded the market globally," noted Clarke. "The next decade will be focused on the development of digital-native products, the proliferation of new business models and delivery channels, and keeping pace with rapidly evolving user needs and expectations. Pam's expertise will enable the firm to be more supportive of client needs in these areas."
"With its focus on content and technology and its emphasis on practical solutions, Clarke & Company is a natural fit," said Harley. "My career focus has been on developing information products that meet business and customer needs, and the opportunities have never been greater. I look forward to working with a broad range of clients, across both professional and scholarly publishing and higher education."
Prior to joining Clarke & Company, Harley was a Product Strategist at Silverchair Information Systems where she worked with Silverchair clients to grow their products and business. She also led Silverchair's Semedica division, developing a set of technologies and services used to support the semantic enrichment of content. Before joining Silverchair, Harley was charged with digital publishing strategy and product development at the American Psychiatric Association where she led the transition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) from a print-only publication to one with multiple electronic formats. She got her start in STM publishing in the journals division of the American Diabetes Association after graduating with a Bachelors of Science from Duke University.
