“Empty Receptionist” Problem is Solved with TextUs.Biz Receptionist

“Receptionist creates an extraordinary first impression by eliminating those uncomfortable moments when a visitor enters an office space and awkwardly glances around, looking for someone to assist them,” said Ted Guggenheim, president of TextUs.Biz.

TextUs.Biz, a technology company that produces text message-powered business apps, has just launched the TextUs.Biz Receptionist – an iPad app that performs the role of a virtual receptionist by instantly connecting office visitors with the person they are visiting via text message. The visitor can connect with their point-of-contact via text message even when that person is not physically in the office.

“The days of old school, Mad Men-style office spaces with traditional reception areas are over. Bottom line concerns and space maximization efforts mean that areas that once housed receptionists are now being turned into meeting areas, training spaces or simply, places to put more productive workers, not receptionists,” said corporate space planning expert, Paul Whiteside, Managing Partner at the commercial real estate firm New Option Partners.

TextUs.Biz Receptionist provides a simple solution for any office, even those with front desk personnel, depending on the needs of the business. After launching the beta version of the app in early 2013 with several technology-based companies, including the VC firm Foundry Group and start-up incubator TechStars, Receptionist is now available in a dozen countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and several other European countries.

“Receptionist creates an extraordinary first impression by eliminating those uncomfortable moments when a visitor enters an office space and awkwardly glances around, looking for someone to assist them,” said Ted Guggenheim, president of TextUs.Biz. “Using our elegant and intuitive app, Receptionist greets people from an iPad kiosk or enclosure when they arrive, elevating the visitor experience.”

Visitors select the person they are visiting from the list of contacts, enter their name and a text message and email are immediately sent to the selected contact. The contact can instantly engage in a two-way, text conversation with the visitor through the app. If the visitor does not receive a response within a set time, Receptionist sends the message to the next pre-selected contact.

The app, now available in iTunes, is fully customizable with the ability to change button options and functionality, add company logos and colors, as well as import contacts. In addition, a visitor log allows the business to easily search, view and monitor traffic flow. The business can search the visitor log by name, company, person they were visiting or date range, all of which can be printed for reference.

Pricing for Receptionist starts at $49 per month for a company with less than 24 employees, and scales to $249 per month for companies with more than 100 employees. No set-up fee or long-term contracts are required. To learn more about the application, view this introductory video: TextUs.Biz iPad Receptionist
