The verdict was awarded in D.C. Superior Court, April 29, 2011 Case No. CA 008405 V (http://www.dccourts.gov), after a Greyhound bus struck another car when the bus changed lanes. According to the court documents (2011 Case No. CA 008405 V ), the bus driver claimed the collision was not his fault, since he had completed his lane change. He claimed that the car struck the bus in the rear. Mr. Siegel’s client was a passenger on the Greyhound bus.    Greyhound also claimed that Mr. Siegel’s client was not hurt due to the fact that there was only moderate damage to the car and no property damage to the bus.

“Because of the accident our client will have a lifetime of pain and suffering,” said Washington D.C. lawyer, Allan Siegel. “Her whole life has changed all the way down to her work hours and the ability to see her family and friends. We are saddened by her diminished physical state but happy that justice has been served.”

The court documents (2011 Case No. CA 008405 V) state that Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata, & Siegel, P.C.’s client suffered a herniated disk in her thoracic spine, and a weakening of a muscle in her abdominal wall. The client also suffered from an aggravation of two pre-existing herniated disks in her neck, and one pre-existing herniated disk. She had sustained nearly $47,000 in medical bills and approximately $6,000 in lost wages (Case No. CA 008405 V).

According to the court documents (2011 Case No. CA 008405 V ), their client worked as a campus security guard at the time of the collision. However, following the accident she can no longer patrol the campus and has been given a position where she must remain seated. Unfortunately, her new position required her to switch to the graveyard shift.
