The First Responder's Memorial CBR Benefit with Deryl Dodd in concert held this weekend in West, benefitted the First Responders-Special Victims Fund. Though all the numbers are not tallied, through the combined efforts, of the auction held on Friday, the on-line auction of a Mahindra Tractor and the CBR bull riding event and concert Saturday, Benny Cude, CEO of Championship Bull Riding, says the number will be substantial.
“This is what the spirit of Championship Bull Riding is all about. Reaching out to friends and neighbors and helping out the best way we know how. I am so proud of my team and everyone that came together to get this done.”
2012 PRCA World Champion Cody Teel, back in the CBR arena for the first time since he sustained an injury this winter, won the event and promptly turned his check over to the fundraising efforts of the event.
“I am just glad I could do it. It is the least I can do,” said Teel after the event. “All of us riders were anxious to get here and help any way we can. Thank you to the community of West, and all the people here for making this possible.”
The MAX 22 tractor Mahindra USA generously donated went to Bob Mitchell of Terrell, Texas who won with a winning bid of $12,000! Thank you to Cleo Franklin Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Planning and the rest of his team at Mahindra USA for their generous contribution and all their efforts to support the event in West.
During the live auction on Friday, the most buzzed item was the pair of Justin Boots autographed by George Strait. This amazing donation by the Justin Boot Company brought $2400 for the West Volunteer Fire Department - Special Victims Fund.
Championship Bull Riding will make an announcement later this week regarding the total raised over the weekend. If you would like to help West, donations may still be made at http://www.CBRBull.com/donate.
