"Sentra is a solid offering in Nissan's most innovative, highest-quality, highest-value sedan lineup ever and we are excited to see it on top of this year's Cars.com ‘Most Affordable Compact Sedan' list."

After evaluating 11 compact sedans equipped with six pre-selected features along with calculating the fuel costs for five years, Cars.com has announced that the 2013 Nissan Sentra is the most affordable. Indeed the 2013 Sentra leads its nearest competitor by $730, which according to the editors at Cars.com, is due to the class leading fuel economy of the Sentra.

The six features required in order to standardize the evaluation were the following: automatic transmission, cruise control, tilt steering, steering wheel audio controls, remote entry and USB input. The Sentra model used in the evaluation was an SV with the Driver Package added.

"Pairing value and best-in-class fuel efficiency with style and comfort, the all-new Nissan Sentra truly stepped up its compact car game in 2013," Vice President of Marketing Jon Brancheau said, Nissan North America, Inc. "Sentra is a solid offering in Nissan's most innovative, highest-quality, highest-value sedan lineup ever and we are excited to see it on top of this year's Cars.com ‘Most Affordable Compact Sedan' list."

Sentra includes several changes that help to contribute to the increased fuel savings. The 2013 Sentra is 150 pounds lighter than the outgoing model, yet it has slightly larger overall dimensions and more interior room. The lighter and more aerodynamic 2013 Nissan Sentra also employs a more fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine, which along with its next-generation Xtronic CVT® with sub-planetary gear helps deliver a 13 percent improvement in EPA combined fuel economy (over the prior model year). Fuel economy is now rated at 30 miles per gallon city, 39 miles per gallon highway and a class-leading 34 miles per gallon combined with the CVT.

The 2013 Nissan Sentra is offered in a selection of well-equipped trim levels and all models come with standard Xtronic CVT®, except the base Sentra S which is available with a choice of six speed manual or CVT.
