The AAPL is such a great organization, and receiving their highest designation was a great challenge and really an honor.

Matt Muehlberger, Vice President of Land Acquisition and Management at Creed Operating Co., LLC, recently obtained his Certified Professional Landman (CPL) designation. The certification is issued by the American Association of Professional Landman (AAPL) and it is the highest designation offered in the energy management industry after Registered Landman (RL) and Registered Professional Landman (RPL).

“The AAPL is such a great organization, and receiving their highest designation was a great challenge and really an honor,” says Matt. “You really must be versed in all aspects of land management to receive this advanced level of designation,” he continues.

According to the official AAPL website, “a CPL demonstrates their comprehensive competency, proficiency and professionalism in the landman field.” There are eight application requirements listed on the website which primarily concern the applicant’s relevant education, experience or combination of credits as well as references from three other CPLs.

Matt Muehlberger of Wichita Falls, TX, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Cox School of Business. He is Vice President of Creed Operating Co., LLC, an independent oil and gas company with a focus on both unconventional and conventional E&P in the Ft. Worth and Permian basins.
