HealthMEDX, the leading provider of LTPAC EMR solutions, has announced the General Availability of the HealthMEDX Pharmacy Exchange, a bi-directional interface between HealthMEDX Vision and Omnicare, utilizing the NCPDP SCRIPT 10.6 standard.
The HealthMEDX Pharmacy Exchange improves patient safety by facilitating electronic communication between the physician, pharmacy, and nurse through the automation of the workflow and data exchange of several key processes including: fill/refill requests, allergy information, therapeutic interchange, generic substitution, and interaction checking.
Being the first to achieve Omnicare Certification with the NCPDP SCRIPT 10.6 is significant. The CMS Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule, officially published in the Federal Register on November 16, 2012, requires Long Term Care facilities to adopt the NCPDP SCRIPT 10.6 as the official Part D ePrescribing Standard effective November 1, 2014.
“HealthMEDX continues to support the industry standards required for interoperability, as evidenced by our commitment to NCPDP,” said Gerry McCarthy, Vice President of HealthMEDX. “We are committed to the standards as they serve as the foundation to address workflow and care coordination across the care continuum through the HealthMEDX Vision solution.”
“The nurses at SpringPoint love the integration because of the increased efficiency and improved workflow with ordering and re-filling medications,” stated Eileen D’Amico, Manager of Clinical Information Systems for SpringPoint Senior Living. “The ability to share clinical and census information between HealthMEDX and Omnicare is great for our patients and clinicians.”
HealthMEDX will be presenting the HealthMEDX Exchange at the upcoming 2013 LTPAC Summit Interoperability Showcase on June 18, 2013 in Baltimore, MD.
HealthMEDX provides an integrated clinical/financial EMR and CRM across the entire LTPAC care continuum, including: Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, Independent Living, Rehab, Home Care and Hospice. The SaaS based architecture supports interoperability with hospitals, physicians and payers to address readmission management and care coordination challenges across the care continuum.
