Financial Poise and West LegalEdcenter Announce Webinars on the Anatomy of Venture Capital Scheduled for Late June

Two webinars on the anatomy of venture capital to be held in late June; sparked by JOBS Act.

Financial Poise is pleased to announce two landmark webinars in June: “Negotiating a VC/Start-up Investment” and “Fundamentals of Investing in a Venture Capital Fund.”

Both webinars are being produced in conjunction with West LegalEdcenter; the Alliance of M&A Advisors; and Accredited Investor Markets, and each will offer CLE credits to attorneys who attend.

With experts from such firms Kirkland & Ellis and Jones Day, these webinars were created in recognition of the increased interest in VC investing that the JOBS Act is fostering in light of the impending lifting of the ban prohibiting general solicitation and advertising.

“While much of the media’s attention about the JOBS Act is focused on crowdfunding,” according to Financial Poise founder Jonathan Friedland, “the provision lifting the ban prohibiting general solicitation will have a far greater impact because that will be the catalyst for hundreds of thousands, if not millions of accredited investors to start learning about VC and other alternative investment strategies.”

“The traditional notion that a well diversified investment portfolio consists of about 60 to 70 percent equities and 30 to 40 percent bonds was never right, a fact supported by the last market downturn," Friedland said, “and the best thing about the JOBS Act, in hindsight, will be that it was the spark that allowed the vast majority of accredited investors to finally open their eyes to this.”
