Shillingford is a second generation operator of a family-owned business that once thrived in a very different Detroit. Giant’s revenues and business boomed in the 1980s and 90s. At the peak, accounts with Ford, GM and Chrysler accounted for 40 percent of Giant’s business. First the auto accounts evaporated then the accounts with budget strapped local municipalities and governments.

Giving up was not an option. Shillingford does not want to leave his 21,000 sq. ft. warehouse as another empty building in the Detroit area. Three full time employees rely on Giant. So he looked for business innovation ideas and found UnleashWD.

“With all the change that has happened and will happen, much of what distribution knows is obsolete,” Shillingford says. “That said, those who embrace change and integrate new technologies and management principals into their businesses have a chance to be the new market leaders.
